• Santosha is one of the 5 Niyamas. Niyama being the second limb of the 8 limbs of Patanjali’s 8-limb yoga path. We do not need to see the limbs as a ladder, rather by working on the first seven limbs, we arrive at the 8th, Samadhi, a state of quiet absorption or focus. Samadhi is when the mind is still and we are at one with our Selves, the unchanging nature of our beings, our connection with the Eternal. We are in a process in all the limbs at the same time…

    Santosha, the second of the Niyamas, seems simple but is more complicated than we might think. Contentment can be found in acceptance and appreciation of what is in the present moment. The more we learn to simply be were we are, with ‘what is’ as this moment, the more we will learn contentment.
